Low Noise Fast Turn ON/OFF 2.4-2.5GHz WiFi LNA with BFU730LX
Design and evaluation of a 2.4-2.5GHz WiFi LNA using the BFU730LX transistor. Features 17dB gain, 0.79dB noise figure, and fast switching for 802.11a/b/g/n/ac applications.
Overview
This application note describes the design, simulation, and performance of a Low Noise Amplifier (LNA) targeting the 2.4-2.5GHz WiFi band. Utilizing the NXP BFU730LX SiGe:C wideband transistor, the design is optimized for WLAN standards including 802.11a/b/g/n and 802.11ac MIMO. The document includes a detailed schematic, bill of materials, and board layout. Key performance metrics highlighted include a gain of 17dB, a de-embedded noise figure of 0.79dB, and an input IP3 of +2.5dBm. The circuit is designed for rapid switching, achieving a turn-on time of 380ns and a turn-off time of 40ns at 3.0V.
Use Cases
- 802.11a/b/g/n/ac WiFi infrastructure
