Overview

This application note provides detailed sensitivity and range performance data for the NXP MC1319x series 2.4GHz ISM band transceivers. Testing was conducted using the 13192-EVB and Sensor Applications Reference Design (SARD) platforms, which integrate the MC9S08GT60 MCU. The document analyzes receiver sensitivity under different configurations, demonstrating that the MBC13900 Low Noise Amplifier (LNA) improves performance from -95dBm to -103dBm. It features antenna radiation patterns for on-board F-antennas and dipoles, discusses path loss models for free space and non-ideal environments, and presents empirical range test results from outdoor environments, including line-of-sight and obstructed scenarios. The SARD board also includes MMA6261Q and MMA1260D accelerometers for sensor application evaluation.

Use Cases

  • Wireless sensor networks
  • Factory automation and motor control
  • Home and energy management systems
  • Asset tracking and monitoring
