The Anybus Communicator AB7318-B is a protocol converter designed to connect non-networked industrial devices via a serial RS-232/422/485 interface to a ControlNet network. It acts as an adapter on the ControlNet network, allowing for the exchange of I/O data between a ControlNet master (PLC) and the serial device. The device is housed in a slim plastic housing suitable for DIN-rail mounting. It performs the conversion from serial data frames to ControlNet objects without the need for PLC programming, using the Anybus Configuration Manager software for setup.
