The TMF8829 is a highly integrated direct time-of-flight (dToF) sensor module featuring a SPAD, TDC, and histogram technology. It belongs to the TMF882x family, supporting multiple zone configurations including 8x8, 4x4, and 3x3 for precise distance measurement up to 5000mm. The device includes an internal Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Laser (VCSEL) and a multi-lens-array (MLA) to provide a wide field of illumination (FoI) and dynamically adjustable field of view (FoV). All raw data processing is performed on-chip, providing distance and confidence values via an I2C interface.
