The MAX17205 is a stand-alone ModelGauge m5 fuel gauge IC that provides high-accuracy state-of-charge measurements for 2-cell and 3-cell battery packs. It utilizes the ModelGauge m5 algorithm, which eliminates the need for battery characterization and compensates for cell aging, temperature, and discharge rate. The device includes SHA-256 authentication with a 160-bit secret key to prevent battery pack cloning, nonvolatile memory for stand-alone operation, and history logging. It operates with a low quiescent current of 25µA in active mode and provides precise estimations of time-to-empty and time-to-full.
