Overview

This application note describes the NXP EV Power Inverter Control Reference Platform, providing a hardware reference design and software enablement for ASIL-D compliant high-voltage traction motor inverters. The platform demonstrates 150 kW peak output power with >96% efficiency at 320 V. It utilizes the MPC5775E 32-bit Power Architecture MCU for motor control, the FS65 series System Basis Chip (SBC) for power management, and GD3100 isolated gate drivers compatible with both IGBT and SiC MOSFETs. The design is optimized for the Fuji M653 IGBT module and includes a software-based resolver-to-digital converter (RDC) and redundant CAN bus interfaces to meet automotive safety requirements.

Use Cases

  • EV traction motor power inverters
  • High-voltage UPS power inverters
  • Alternate energy power inverters
