Analog Devices MAXREFDES281# IO-Link to Pmod Peripheral Module Reference Design

Reference design for an IO-Link to Pmod adapter using the MAX22516 transceiver. It enables industrial sensors and actuators to interface with IO-Link masters via Pmod connectors.

View reference design

Overview

The MAXREFDES281# is a complete IO-Link reference design that interfaces device or actuator development boards with a Pmod-compatible peripheral module connector to an IO-Link Master. The design features the MAX22516 IO-Link transceiver with an integrated data link controller and surge protection, an STM32 microcontroller for application code, and a MAXM17761 DC-DC module for peripheral power. It supports SPI, I2C, and UART interfaces and is compliant with IO-Link version 1.1 and IEC 61131-9 standards. The 75mm x 33mm board includes an industry-standard M12 connector and a 2-pin terminal block providing up to 24W of power from the IO-Link master.

Use Cases

  • Industrial automation systems
  • Smart sensor and actuator development
  • PLC and DCS system integration
  • Rapid prototyping of IO-Link compatible devices
  • Industrial analog I/O module testing
