Overview

This document provides technical specifications for the Bosch Sensortec BME280, a combined digital humidity, pressure, and temperature sensor. Housed in a compact 2.5 mm x 2.5 mm x 0.93 mm metal-lid LGA package, the sensor is designed for low-power, battery-driven applications. Key features include an I2C interface up to 3.4 MHz, 3-wire and 4-wire SPI interfaces up to 10 MHz, and a main supply voltage range of 1.71 V to 3.6 V. The BME280 is register and performance compatible with the BMP280 pressure sensor but adds humidity sensing with a 1-second response time and ±3% relative humidity accuracy. It supports three power modes—sleep, normal, and forced—and offers programmable oversampling and IIR filtering to optimize performance for specific environmental sensing needs. The integrated temperature sensor is used for both ambient monitoring and internal compensation of the pressure and humidity data.
