Overview

The DC1124A is a demonstration circuit for the LT3591, a fixed-frequency step-up current mode DC/DC converter designed to drive up to ten white LEDs in series. The board operates from an input voltage range of 3V to 9V and provides a constant 20mA output current. The integrated LT3591 includes an internal Schottky diode and open-circuit protection within a 3mm x 2mm DFN package to minimize external component count. It features high-side current sensing for simplified LED return paths and supports multiple dimming methods, including filtered PWM, direct DC, and direct PWM dimming. The document provides technical specifications, setup procedures, and measurement techniques for evaluating the driver's performance.

Use Cases

  • Backlighting for portable electronics
  • Driving white LED strings in series
  • Space-constrained LED lighting designs
