Overview

The DC720A is a demonstration board for a high voltage, synchronous current-mode DC/DC step-down converter using the LT3800 controller. It converts an input voltage range of 20V to 55V into a 12V output at up to 6.25A (75W). The circuit includes a soft-start feature and offers jumper-selectable operation modes: Burst Mode, Discontinuous Current Mode, and Continuous Current Mode. The design features an optional boost bias circuit to improve efficiency by back-driving the internal regulator from the output, and the layout supports additional MOSFETs for higher current configurations or modification into a boost converter.

Use Cases

  • Industrial control systems
  • 12V/42V automotive applications
  • 48V Telecom power supplies
