Overview

This application note describes the implementation and configuration of the Enhanced Motor Control Timer (eTimer) module on the NXP MPC5744P microcontroller. It covers essential system-level settings including the Clock Generation Module (CGM) for Motor Control clocking up to 160 MHz, peripheral clock enablement via Mode Entry (MC_ME) registers, and pin multiplexing using the SIUL2 module. The document provides four detailed implementation examples: generating periodical signals with variable duty cycles, producing thin periodical pulses, generating one-shot signals, and measuring external signal parameters. It includes mathematical formulas for frequency and divider calculations, register-level configuration steps, and pin mapping tables for 144 LQFP and 257 MAPBGA packages.

Use Cases

  • Generating variable duty cycle PWM signals for motor control
  • Measuring external signal frequency and pulse parameters
  • Configuring one-shot trigger pulses for system synchronization
  • Setting up peripheral clocking and pin muxing for MPC5744P microcontrollers
