Overview

Demonstration circuit 905 showcases the LT3491, a fixed-frequency step-up current mode DC/DC converter in an SC70 package with a built-in Schottky diode. The board features two distinct evaluation circuits: a Small Size circuit providing 15mA and a High Efficiency circuit providing 20mA to a string of 6 LEDs. The LT3491 operates at a high switching frequency of up to 2.8 MHz and includes internal open-circuit protection. Its high-side current sensing capability allows for a single-wire current source configuration. The board supports various dimming techniques, including filtered PWM, direct DC, and direct PWM control, with an operating input voltage range of 3V to 5V.

Use Cases

  • Handheld device backlighting
