Overview

Demonstration circuit 1050 (DC1050A) is a monolithic step-down DC/DC switching regulator evaluation board featuring the LT3503. The board is configured to provide a 3.3V output from an input range of 4.5V to 20V, making it compatible with automotive batteries, wall adapters, and industrial supplies. Its high 2.2MHz switching frequency enables the use of small surface-mount inductors and ceramic capacitors. The design utilizes current mode control for stability and fast transient response, while internal compensation minimizes the overall solution size. Key features include a shutdown mode that reduces supply current to under 2uA, programmable soft-start to limit inrush current, and comprehensive protection via cycle-by-cycle current limiting, frequency foldback, and thermal shutdown.

Use Cases

  • Automotive battery-powered systems
  • Wall adapters
