Linear Technology
synchronous current-mode DC/DC step-down converter featuring the LT3800.
Quick start guide for the DC720 demo board featuring the LT3800. It converts 20V-55V to 12V at 6.25A with selectable operating modes and up to 95.6% efficiency.
Demonstration Circuit 720 (DC720) is a 200kHz high voltage, synchronous current-mode DC/DC step-down converter featuring the LT3800. The circuit operates from an input range of 20V to 55V and delivers a 12V output at up to 6.25A (75W). It includes a soft-start feature to manage output voltage slew rate and reduce current surges. Users can select between Burst Mode, Discontinuous Current Mode, and Continuous Current Mode using jumpers to optimize efficiency at light loads or maintain constant switching frequency. The board supports an optional boost bias circuit for improved efficiency at high input voltages and can be modified for higher output currents or boost converter configurations.
