Overview

The DC357 demonstration circuit is a dual power supply featuring the LTC1704 and LTC1704B. It includes a 550kHz synchronous buck converter and an LDO linear regulator. The buck converter operates from a 5V nominal input and provides a 1.8V output at up to 15A, utilizing MOSFET RDS(ON) current sensing to improve efficiency by eliminating discrete sense resistors. The integrated LDO provides a 1.5V output at up to 1.5A and can be powered by either the switcher output or an external supply. The LTC1704 supports Burst Mode operation for light-load efficiency, while the LTC1704B version operates without it. The document provides setup procedures, performance specifications, and efficiency data.

Use Cases

  • High-current power supply systems
  • Step-down DC/DC conversion for microprocessors
  • Dual output power regulation
