User guide for the DC645 demonstration circuit featuring the LTC3408EDD, a 600mA buck regulator designed for WCDMA power amplifier applications.

View design document

Overview

The DC645 demonstration circuit evaluates the LTC3408EDD, a constant-frequency monolithic synchronous buck regulator. Optimized for WCDMA cellular phone power amplifier applications, it operates from an input range of 2.7V to 5.5V and provides a dynamically controlled output voltage from 0.3V to 3.5V. The circuit includes an internal 80mΩ bypass P-channel MOSFET to reduce power loss and achieves up to 96% efficiency. Operating at a frequency of 1.5MHz, the design utilizes low-profile surface mount components and supports output currents up to 600mA.

Use Cases

  • WCDMA cellular phone power amplifiers
  • Single-cell Li-ion powered handheld applications
  • Dynamic voltage scaling for portable electronics
  • Low-profile power management modules
