Overview

The MAX86178 evaluation kit (EV kit) provides a platform to test the MAX86178 analog front-end, which features photoplethysmogram (PPG), electrocardiogram (ECG), and bioimpedance (BioZ) measurement capabilities. The kit includes a microcontroller board (MAXSENSORBLE_EVKIT_B) and a sensor board (MAX86178_EVKIT_C) equipped with three LEDs and three Vishay VEMD8080 photodiodes. It supports real-time monitoring via a Windows-compatible GUI over Bluetooth LE or USB. The BioZ channel supports both tetrapolar and bipolar configurations with multiple stimulation modes, including sine and square waves. The kit facilitates testing for IEC 60601-2-47 compliance and includes a programmer board for firmware updates.

Use Cases

  • Photoplethysmography (PPG) measurement
  • Single-lead electrocardiogram (ECG) monitoring
  • Bioimpedance (BioZ) analysis
  • Wearable health device prototyping
  • IEC 60601-2-47 compliance testing
