Overview

This reference manual provides technical specifications and operational details for the NXP MC9S08QB8 and MC9S08QB4 8-bit microcontrollers. Based on the HCS08 CPU, these devices operate at up to 20 MHz within a voltage range of 1.8V to 3.6V. Key features include up to 8KB Flash memory, 512 bytes of RAM, and multiple low-power modes including stop2 and stop3 with a 6 µs typical wakeup time. Integrated peripherals comprise an 8-channel 12-bit ADC with a temperature sensor, an analog comparator (ACMP), a 1-channel timer/PWM (TPM), and a serial communications interface (SCI) with LIN support. System reliability is managed through a watchdog timer (COP), low-voltage detection, and illegal opcode/address detection.

Use Cases

  • Battery-powered handheld devices
  • Industrial sensor nodes
  • Consumer electronic control
  • Automotive LIN slave applications
  • General purpose embedded control
