Overview

This document describes the hardware and software setup required to perform RF performance testing on the NXP MCXW71 microcontroller using the FRDM development board. It details how to utilize the connectivity test tool firmware to evaluate critical RF parameters, including transmit power (up to 10 dBm), channel selection across the 2405 MHz to 2480 MHz range, and 32 MHz crystal trimming. The guide covers specific test procedures for continuous transmission and reception modes to support FCC, CE, and MIIT certifications, as well as packet error rate (PER) measurements, range testing, CCA threshold adjustment, and Tx/Rx turnaround time verification as required by the 802.15.4 PHY standard.

Use Cases

  • RF performance verification and characterization
  • Regulatory compliance testing for FCC and CE standards
  • Crystal frequency calibration and XTAL trim adjustment
  • Receiver sensitivity and link range evaluation
  • 802.15.4 PHY turnaround time measurement
