Overview

This document provides a technical overview of the power management modules integrated into the NXP MCXW71 microcontroller. It describes the internal hardware components, including a DC-DC buck converter, multiple low-dropout (LDO) regulators, and a programmable solid-state smart power switch. The MCXW71 features independent power domains for analog, core, system, RF, and I/O hardware to allow for optimized power consumption in wireless applications. The note details peripheral assignments for each domain, voltage requirements, and regulator specifications. It further outlines three primary hardware configurations: Bypass mode for low-cost implementation, DC-DC Buck mode for balanced efficiency, and PMIC mode for independent external supply control.

Use Cases

  • Designing power supply hardware for MCXW71-based wireless microcontrollers.
  • Configuring internal DC-DC and LDO regulators for power optimization.
  • Mapping peripherals to specific power domains for power sequencing and management.
  • Implementing low-power modes using internal power switching and regulator control.
