SC1894 Serial Peripheral Interface Programming Guide

A technical guide for developing host software to communicate with the Analog Devices SC1894 linearizer using the Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI).

View design document

Overview

This programming guide provides detailed instructions for implementing SPI communication between a host processor and the SC1894 adaptive digital pre-distortion (ADPD) linearizer. It covers hardware interface requirements, including SPI bus configuration and pin functions for LOADENB and RESETN. The document details the message protocol for 4-byte communications, scratch memory access, and EEPROM reprogramming. Additional sections provide procedures for Power Measurement Unit (PMU) calibration, frequency range configuration, wideband optimization, and debug features such as spectrum reporting (SEM/PSD) and internal temperature sensing.

Use Cases

  • Developing host software for SC1894 control
  • Configuring RF linearizer parameters via SPI
  • Reprogramming SC1894 EEPROM for custom frequency ranges
  • Implementing PMU calibration in RF power amplifiers
  • Monitoring spectrum emission mask (SEM) and CCDF parameters
