The XR16C854IV-F is an enhanced quad Universal Asynchronous Receiver and Transmitter (UART) featuring 128 bytes of transmit and receive FIFOs, automatic hardware (RTS/CTS) and software (Xon/Xoff) flow control, and data rates up to 2 Mbps. It includes programmable TX and RX FIFO trigger levels, FIFO level counters, and a wireless infrared (IrDA 1.0) encoder/decoder. It is pin-to-pin compatible with industry standards such as the ST16C554 and ST16C654.
