The XR68C681 is a Dual Universal Asynchronous Receiver and Transmitter (DUART) designed for 68000 family microprocessor-based systems. It features two fully independent full-duplex channels, each with a triple-buffered receiver and dual-buffered transmitter. The device includes an internal bit rate generator with 23 different rates, a 16-bit counter/timer, and an interrupt vector output. It is fabricated using CMOS technology for low power consumption.
