The Si3404-GM is a highly-integrated, IEEE 802.3at Type 1-compliant PoE PD interface and pulse-width-modulated (PWM) switching regulator. It converts high voltage (typically 48 V) from Ethernet copper UTP cabling into a regulated low-voltage DC supply. It integrates detection, classification, and hot swap interfaces with a high-efficiency current-mode DC-DC controller and internal power FETs.
