The TMC2208 is an ultra-silent motor driver IC for two-phase bipolar stepper motors. It features the StealthChop2 silent drive technology, SpreadCycle high-dynamic chopper, and an integrated power stage capable of 1.4A RMS (2.0A peak) coil current. It supports up to 256 microsteps via internal interpolation and can be configured through a single-wire UART interface or simple Step/Dir pins.
