Isolated RS-485/RS-422 transceiver supports half-duplex or full-duplex communication on multipoint balanced transmission lines. The device integrates a 3-channel isolator, a three-state differential line driver, and a differential input receiver using iCoupler isolation technology. It operates with a 3.0 V to 5.5 V logic-side supply and a 3.0 V to 3.6 V isolated bus-side supply. The transceiver provides 500 kbps data rate, ±15 kV HBM ESD protection on bus pins, greater than 25 kV/µs common-mode transient immunity, and 5000 V rms isolation for one minute. Operation is specified from -40°C to +85°C in a wide-body 16-lead SOIC package.
