The BMP280 is a compact, high-performance digital pressure sensor from Bosch Sensortec, built using proprietary APSM MEMS technology. It features a Piezo-resistive sensing element and mixed-signal ASIC, offering high EMC robustness, accuracy, linearity, and long-term stability. Housed in an 8-pin metal-lid LGA package (2.0 x 2.5 x 0.95 mm³), it is ideal for mobile applications like smartphones, tablets, GPS devices, and watches due to its small size and low power consumption (2.7 μA @1Hz). As a successor to the BMP180, it delivers improved performance, lower noise, new filter modes, and SPI interface within a 63% smaller footprint. It supports I2C (up to 3.4 MHz) and SPI (up to 10 MHz) digital interfaces and includes an internal IIR filter to suppress short-term disturbances. Key applications include GPS navigation enhancement, indoor/outdoor navigation, weather forecasting, and vertical velocity indication.
