Acconeer I2C Distance Detector User Guide

User guide for the Acconeer I2C Distance Detector application, detailing the register-based I2C interface for A121 radar sensors and XM125 modules.

View design document

Overview

This document provides a technical overview of the I2C Distance Detector application for Acconeer A121 pulsed coherent radar sensors and XM125 modules. It defines a register-based communication protocol over I2C, allowing a host microcontroller to configure radar parameters, perform calibrations, and retrieve distance results for up to 10 detected peaks. The guide covers register maps, command structures, power management via Wake Up/Interrupt pins, and low-power modes. Detailed register descriptions include distance result formats, signal quality settings, threshold methods, and peak sorting configurations.

Use Cases

  • Integrating A121 radar sensors into embedded systems via I2C
  • Configuring XM125 modules for multi-peak distance detection
  • Implementing low-power distance sensing in battery-operated devices
  • Developing host-side drivers for Acconeer radar applications
