AD8232-EVALZ Evaluation Board User Guide
User guide for the AD8232-EVALZ evaluation board, a single-lead heart rate monitor front end supporting 2-electrode and 3-electrode configurations for fitness applications.
Overview
The AD8232-EVALZ User Guide (UG-514) provides technical details for evaluating the AD8232 single-lead heart rate monitor (HRM) front end. The evaluation board allows for the development of biopotential signal conditioning circuits using two or three electrodes. It features a default gain of 1100 V/V and a integrated signal chain including a fixed-gain instrumentation amplifier and a Sallen-Key low-pass filter. The board includes configurable switches for leads-off detection (AC/DC), fast restore, and shutdown modes. It also incorporates Right Leg Drive (RLD) circuitry to improve common-mode rejection. Design equations for adjusting high-pass and low-pass filter cutoffs are included to support various fitness and medical monitoring applications.
Use Cases
- Fitness heart rate monitoring
- Portable ECG signal acquisition
- Biopotential signal conditioning prototyping
- Wearable health device development
