Overview

The ADRF6780-EVALZ evaluation board is designed to test the performance of the ADRF6780, a silicon germanium (SiGe) wideband upconverter optimized for microwave radio designs operating from 5.9 GHz to 23.6 GHz. The board supports two frequency translation modes: direct conversion from baseband IQ signals and single sideband (SSB) upconversion from intermediate frequencies (IF) ranging from 800 MHz to 3500 MHz. It features an integrated USB interface for serial port interface (SPI) control via the Analog Devices ACE software. The documentation includes detailed hardware setup instructions, software configuration procedures, and evaluation board schematics. The design incorporates an AD5601 DAC for electronic control of the VATT voltage and provides connectors for differential LO and RF signals.

Use Cases

  • Performance evaluation of wideband microwave upconverters
  • Development of point-to-point microwave radio systems
  • Testing and calibration of IQ baseband signals
  • Validation of SSB upconversion with sideband suppression
