Overview

The FRDM-K28F is a hardware development platform for evaluating NXP Kinetis K27 and K28 MCUs. Centered on the MK28FN2M0VMI15 ARM Cortex-M4 MCU, the board operates up to 150 MHz and includes 2 MB flash and 1 MB RAM. Key features include high-speed and full-speed USB controllers, a 256 Mbit QuadSPI serial flash, and 128 Mbit of mobile SDRAM. The board is form-factor compatible with Arduino R3 headers and includes a FlexIO socket for external display modules. Integrated peripherals consist of an FXOS8700CQ 6-axis sensor, an SD card interface, and a visible light sensor. Debugging is facilitated by the onboard OpenSDA v2.2 circuit based on the Kinetis K20 MCU.

Use Cases

  • IoT device prototyping
  • Kinetis K27 and K28 MCU evaluation
  • USB High-Speed application development
  • Embedded graphics development using FlexIO
