FRDMCD1020EVM Evaluation Board User Guide
User guide for the FRDMCD1020EVM evaluation board featuring the NXP CD1020 22-channel switch detection interface with programmable wetting current.
Overview
The FRDMCD1020EVM evaluation board is a development platform for the NXP CD1020, a 22-channel multiple switch detection interface (MSDI). The board is designed to detect the opening and closing of up to 22 switch contacts and report their status to a host microcontroller via a Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI). It features programmable wetting currents and a 22-to-1 analog multiplexer for reading input voltages through an AMUX output pin. The board supports both Normal and Sleep modes for power optimization. The kit includes a pre-programmed FRDM-KL25Z communication board, allowing for immediate evaluation using NXP SPIGen software. Hardware features include status LEDs for interrupts and wake-up events, a 36-pin load connector, and an optional onboard LDO regulator for standalone power configurations.
Use Cases
- Automotive switch status monitoring
- Industrial control panel switch detection
- Low-power system wake-up interfaces
- Multi-channel analog signal multiplexing
- Power-efficient switch state reporting
