Overview

The MAXREFDES1227 is a miniature 24W isolated DC-DC power supply providing a 12V output at up to 2A load current. The design employs the MAX17596 peak-current-mode controller in a discontinuous-conduction mode (DCM) flyback topology running at 125kHz. While the controller natively supports up to 36V, this design uses an extra transformer bias winding to extend the operating input range to 60V. It features 1500V RMS galvanic isolation between primary and secondary stages, with an optocoupler for secondary-side voltage regulation.
