Infineon
For this application, we chose the Infineon® IRLR3110ZTRPbF 100V, 63A n-channel MOSFET as the primary MOSFET.
12V output isolated power supply using the MAX17596 DCM flyback controller, delivering 2A load current with 17V to 60V input range.
The MAXREFDES1227 is a miniature 24W isolated DC-DC power supply providing a 12V output at up to 2A load current. The design employs the MAX17596 peak-current-mode controller in a discontinuous-conduction mode (DCM) flyback topology running at 125kHz. While the controller natively supports up to 36V, this design uses an extra transformer bias winding to extend the operating input range to 60V. It features 1500V RMS galvanic isolation between primary and secondary stages, with an optocoupler for secondary-side voltage regulation. The document provides full design equations, component selection criteria for the MOSFET and transformer, and performance specifications including a peak efficiency of 88.4%.
