The IS-C1603 is an intelligent controller designed to manage 16 LCD 36x24 switches/displays. It supports serial communication (RS232 default, RS422/RS485 optional) for programming and real-time control, and features non-volatile memory for storing 255 images and attributes. The controller supports custom firmware, user-defined image data, character-to-graphic conversion using 5x7 and 7x10 fonts, and configurable switch-action reports (press/release events) and backlight settings. It interfaces with various 2-bit and 4-bit RGB or Bicolor/Single color logic boards via ribbon cables. Key features include adjustable audio feedback, user-defined backlight color, brightness control with 7 levels, and animation capabilities. Power requirement is 1 Amp at 9-12 Volts. It is ESD sensitive and programmable via RS232 using a DS89C450 microcontroller. The firmware version 1.4 enhances LCD refresh rate for better contrast and has faster timers.
