View design document

Overview

The EVAL-LTC9111-AZ is an evaluation motherboard designed to demonstrate the LTC9111, an IEEE 802.3cg-compliant single-pair Power over Ethernet (SPoE) powered device (PD) controller. The board operates over a wide 2.3V to 60V range and supports power classes 10 through 15 using Serial Communication Classification Protocol (SCCP). It features active low-side rectification using external MOSFETs to minimize power loss and includes an on-board 3.3V buck regulator for logic rails. The design supports motherboard-to-shield connectivity for Ethernet PHY evaluation and provides jumpers for class selection and snubber configuration.

Use Cases

  • Evaluating SPoE PD controller performance in IEEE 802.3cg systems
  • Prototyping industrial Ethernet power delivery solutions
  • Testing SCCP-based classification protocols
  • Designing 24V and 52V SPoE power class applications
