Overview

This document describes the design and operation of demonstration circuit 1580A, featuring the LTC3856EUH dual-phase synchronous buck controller. The converter is designed for an input range of 4.5V to 14V, delivering a regulated 1.5V output at currents up to 50A. The circuit supports stage shedding to enhance light-load efficiency and utilizes adaptive voltage positioning (AVP) for improved transient response. Users can configure the board for either sense resistor or inductor DCR current sensing, with temperature compensation for accurate current limiting. The switching frequency is pre-set to 400kHz but can be adjusted between 250kHz and 770kHz.
