Overview

The EVAL-AD7173-8ARDZ is a comprehensive evaluation board for the AD7173-8, a 24-bit, 8-/16-channel, 31.25kSPS sigma-delta analog-to-digital converter (ADC) featuring integrated rail-to-rail buffers. The board provides on-board power regulation, converting a 5V USB input into 5V and 3.3V rails to support the ADC and auxiliary components. It connects to a PC through the System Demonstration Platform (SDP-K1) via Arduino-compatible headers. The accompanying ACE software enables full device configuration via a register interface and provides tools for DC time-domain analysis, including waveform graphs and noise performance histograms. The hardware includes an external amplifier section for driver evaluation (ADA4945-1/ADA4940-1) and multiple LDO regulators (ADP7118, LT1962, ADP150) for flexible power rail management.

Use Cases

  • High-resolution ADC performance evaluation
  • Precision sensor signal conditioning prototyping
  • System demonstration using SDP-K1 controller
  • Noise analysis for sigma-delta converters
  • ADC driver amplifier evaluation
