Overview

This application note details the design of an externally-matched Low Noise Amplifier (LNA) for the 900 MHz ISM band using the NXP BGU7005. Originally intended for GPS applications, the BGU7005 is reconfigured here to provide high gain and low noise in the 900 MHz range. The document provides a complete evaluation board design including schematics, bill of materials, and PCB layout. It features Agilent Design System (ADS) circuit simulations and provides typical performance data measured at 1.8 V, such as a 18.97 dB power gain, 1.38 dB noise figure, and -5.0 dBm input IP3.

Use Cases

  • 900 MHz ISM band receivers
  • RF front-end modules
  • GPS receiver applications
