Overview

Demonstration circuit 1640A is a synchronous buck converter designed to evaluate the LTC3833EUDC. It delivers a 1.5V output at up to 20A from an input voltage range of 4.5V to 14V. The circuit operates at a switching frequency of 300kHz and features two configuration versions: the A version uses inductor DCR current sensing for high efficiency (89.4%), while the B version employs a 2mΩ sense resistor for higher current sensing accuracy. The LTC3833 utilizes a fixed on-time valley current mode topology to achieve fast transient response. The board includes features such as selectable DCM or CCM operation, PLLIN for external clock synchronization, and a compact converter layout measuring 1.4" x 0.6".
